Headed by Lucianne Braga Oliveira Vilarinho, Vice President of Federal University of Roraima, Brazil, a Brazilian delegation consisting of representatives of Brazilian Ministry of Education and universities visited NCUT on November 23rd. President Ding Hui, along with Vice President Shen Zhili, met the delegation in Room 302, Dunpin Building.
President Ding Hui extended his warm welcome to the delegation. After briefly introducing NCUT, President Ding elaborated more about the internationalization strategy of NCUT. He noted that encountered with the higher demands raised by the new era, NCUT would be dedicated to developing high-quality graduates with global competitiveness and good command of international rules besides professional knowledge, practical skills and humanistic texture, so as to better facilitate students’ engagement in international competition. President Ding also mentioned that Brazil and China are on good terms as BRICS countries. To practice the ‘people-to-people’ proposal urged by President Xi on the 10th BRICS Summit, President Ding expressed NCUT’s willingness to carry out further and deeper collaboration with Brazilian higher education institutions.
On behalf of Brazilian delegation, Lucianne, Head of the Brazilian delegation and Vice President, thanked President Ding for his warm welcome. She then indicated that in addition to learning more about the higher education in China, the intention of their visit was to promote academic exchanges and educational cooperation between the Brazilian and Chinese universities.
In the meeting, Vice President Shen Zhili offered a comprehensive introduction to NCUT’s history, research, teaching, internationalization, etc. and also exchanged ideas with Brazilian delegation about potential collaboration between both sides. Then, delegation members from the Brazilian side, representing the Ministry of Education, Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education as well as 7 university including Federal University of ABC Region, University of the State of São Paulo, provided some basic information about their institutions.
During the visit, the delegation made a campus tour to the Beijing Key Lab of Intelligent Traffic Control, the University History Museum and the 2nd Exhibition of International Students’ Works. After the tour, certain Brazilian students had pleasant conversations regarding their study and lives at NCUT with the delegation.
