Our Winter Olympics volunteer service team has thoroughly implemented the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on organising the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics well. Regarding the Games as "one of the country's most fundamental interests", the team accomplished all the service work with high standard and quality.

Since April 2021, the volunteer service team at the Beijing Uniform and Registration Centre has started its preliminary work. Overcoming many difficulties, including the very early start, heavy workload and great time span, 213 NCUT student volunteers have successfully completed the registration, the production and distribution of ID documents, as well as the distribution of uniforms for athletes, delegation officials and media workers of delegations from different countries (regions). Their aggregate service hours exceeded 180,000 hours. 372 city volunteers from NCUT overcame many difficulties such as icy and cold weather and long hours of outdoor work, successfully accomplishing volunteer service tasks in the areas around the headquarters of the Winter Olympics Organising Committee. They made a positive contribution to a streamlined, safe and splendid Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The closed-loop site service team, made up of 40 elite NCUT staff, overcame difficulties such as compact campus, hotel renovation and epidemic quarantine to build a comfortable, safe and convenient closed-loop site for 163 volunteers from 11 universities, including Beijing Institute of Technology and Peking University. They formed an invisible "behind-the-scenes force" to serve and protect the volunteers. The seven faculty volunteers were dedicated to their posts and carried out excellent organisational management. The Winter Olympics service volunteer team shed their sweat and tears, living up to their youthful vow to the Party and won glory for the University during the Winter Olympics.

Sticking to their volunteer duties, the two Outstanding Individuals of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games devoted themselves to their work, and diligently drilled their service skills. They made extraordinary achievements in their ordinary positions and set an example for all volunteers. As the head of the Incentive Division of the Volunteer Department of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organising Committee, Wang Lei supervised the incentive work of the venues and facilities in Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou to ensure the orderly operation. The psychological project on closed-loop management of volunteers that he declared and carried out was approved by the leaders of the Beijing Municipal Committee and was promoted in the whole competition area. In addition, drawing on his expertise, Lei has improved the financial system and workflow in the Games, strongly supporting the security and incentive work in the three competition areas. He was awarded "Excellent Member of the Communist Party" and " Outstanding Individual of Beijing for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games" by the Beijing Winter Olympic Organising Committee. As the assistant at the Uniform and Registration Centre, Wang Dejian, the post-gradaute student, participated in the compilation and translation of the registration documents. He also contributed to the construction of the registration system. He spent nearly 1,500 hours in voluntary service. He is regarded as the "expert" in the field of registration due to his excellent work. His story has been featured on Beijing TV, Beijing Youth Daily and the official website of the Winter Olympics Organising Committee.

These stories of groups and individuals reflect the University’s active and dedicated efforts to safeguard the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games as a whole team. It is the trust, expectation and unwavering support of the 15,000 NCUT students and staff that stand behind the over 600 Winter Olympic volunteer teams.

The Party Committee of the University has earnestly implemented the requirements of the Central and Municipal Party Committee, placing the service and safeguarding of the Winter Olympics as a major task. Meanwhile, the Party Committee of the University takes the Winter Olympics as "teaching material" to deepen the ideological work among students and staff. The University has set up a leading group and two specialized teams to serve and safeguard the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Besides, regular meetings have been held to discuss and arrange relevant work. The University adheres to a people-oriented approach, providing volunteers with a full range of assistance such as academic support, transport, catering, medical care and accommodation. At the same time, the University has launched a variety of cultural activities on the theme of the Winter Olympic Games to create a rich campus atmosphere, which helped the successful completion of all service tasks.

NCUT staff and students have shown their responsibility and commitment by integrating themselves into major events in the country and the capital. In the major events of the Party and the nation, such as the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the Winter Paralympic Games, the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of China, and the prevention and control of epidemics, NCUT staff and students have successfully completed all tasks and missions entrusted to the University by the Party and the country. All these demonstrate vividly the original aspiration of NCUT staff and students to "walk with the Party and the country".

Well-prepared for the next stage, together to the future! Though the curtain has come down on a wonderful and outstanding sports event, the spirit of following the Party and dedicating oneself will continue to be passed on among all NCUTers. We will profoundly comprehend the spirits of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, and work hard to construct a high-level applied university and to welcome the convening of the 20th Party Congress with our actual efforts!
