Brunel London School North China University of Technology organized a Freshmen welcome cultural and art performance

Across mountains and seas, we gather in joy. On September 20th, the welcome art performance, hosted by Brunel London School, was held in the Library Lecture Hall. Zhang Lifeng, Deputy Secretary of the CPC North China University of Technology Committee and President of NCUT, Andrew Jones, President of Brunel University London, and Wang Jianwen, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC North China University of Technology Committee ,Vice President of our university, attended the event and watched the performance. The evening began with a performance of “Shostakovich - Second Waltz”by the Symphony Orchestra of the Northern China University of Technology Art Troupe.



The performance showcased a fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, captivating the audience with its brilliance and eliciting applause and cheers. The dance performances “Focus on The Show” and “The Unique one” demonstrated the vibrant youthfulness of the students from NCUT. The classical Chinese dance “Luoshui Jiaoren”, the erhu solo “Qian Si Xi”, and the Peking Opera “Drunken Concubine” perfectly showcased the charm of traditional Chinese culture and art. The saxophone and piano ensemble “Blue and White Porcelain”, the band's rendition of “Dreams”, the solo performance of “Never Gonna Give You Up”, the choir's rendition of “Wish Exchange Shop”, and the rap performance of “Shanhe Tu” showcased the talent and charisma of the young students. The song “Cruel Summer” ignited the atmosphere with its energetic rhythm. Finally, the evening concluded with a grand finale, the collective choir performance of “The First Day”.


Ismail Mohamed, a foreign teacher at Brunel University London, said, “The Gala was well organized with a variety of musical aspects that bridged international and Chinese tastes together.” Jiang Xinyue, a freshman from the Class of 2023 at Brunel London School, said, “As a new member of the Brunel family, this performance not only allowed me to experience the wonderful campus cultural life, but also filled me with endless anticipation for the future.”


The event was attended by more than 800 people, including Stephen Langdon, Dean of the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences at Brunel University London, Monica Yang, Director of International Cooperation Affairs, representatives from the Student Affairs Department and the Youth League Committee, Maozhen Li, Head of Brunel London School and Vice President from the British side, Deputy Party Secretary of each School, all foreign teachers from Brunel London School, Class of 2023 at Brunel London School, as well as student representatives from various faculties, gathered together to watch the cultural and artistic performance.
