On October 26, a delegation led by Fatma Aydın, Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University in Türkiye, visited NCUT. Chen Qun, Vice President of NCUT, met the delegation to discuss institutional partnerships, academic development, student education, and research collaboration.
Chen welcomed the delegation on its first visit to NCUT and outlined the University's distinctive strengths, development of academic disciplines, student education, research achievements, and international engagement. He noted that China and Türkiye are important partners in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), with educational exchanges helping sustain friendly ties between the two countries. As the largest comprehensive public research university in Türkiye's Black Sea region, Ondokuz Mayıs University offers a broad range of disciplines and has a strong record in international education and cooperation, providing promising opportunities for collaboration in education and research. He hoped the visit would help NCUT build practical partnerships with leading Turkish universities and expand opportunities for exchanges and cooperation among faculty and students at the two universities.
Aydın thanked NCUT for its warm welcome and introduced her university's academic structure, disciplinary strengths, international strategy, and achievements in cooperation on European higher education integration. She praised NCUT's distinctive approach to education and strength in engineering, noting that the two universities share similar development goals and considerable scope for cooperation. She hoped the meeting would lead to cooperation at different levels and in a range of areas, particularly student education and academic research.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a proposed letter of intent for inter-university cooperation and mechanisms for sustained collaboration, focusing on engineering, economics, and management. They exchanged views on joint applications for Erasmus+ KA171 projects, reciprocal faculty and student exchanges, and collaborative research and innovation, reaching preliminary agreement on several areas of cooperation.
