August 22 ,2025

From August 14 to 17, the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games—the world's first comprehensive sports event with humanoid robots as the main participants—was grandly held at the National Speed Skating Oval ("Ice Ribbon"), attracting widespread attention at home and abroad. The Intelligent Transportation Laboratory of the School of Electrical and Control Engineering of our university sent the "Boyuan Zhixing Team" to participate in four events: 100-meter race, floor exercise, Chinese martial arts, and Scenario Competition - Medicine Sorting. Finally, relying on the excellent professional knowledge and on-site performance of the students majoring in Intelligent Transportation of our university, the team won the bronze medal in the floor exercise event and the fourth place in the martial arts event, achieving the best result among university teams in this track.

This event was co-hosted by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, China Media Group, the World Robot Cooperation Organization, and the Asia-Pacific Robot World Cup International Council. It attracted a total of 280 teams from 16 countries, including 192 university teams and 88 enterprise teams. The event was mainly divided into six sessions: opening ceremony, competitive competitions, exhibition competitions, scenario competitions, peripheral competitions, and closing ceremony. A total of 487 splendid competitions were held across 26 events, presenting an unprecedented visual feast of the integration of technology and sports to global audiences.

On the afternoon of August 15 and the morning of August 16, the humanoid robots of the "Boyuan Zhixing Team" participated in the finals of the Chinese martial arts and floor exercise events. China Media Group broadcast the "Boyuan Zhixing" robots live. During the competition, the robots demonstrated Chinese martial arts movements. With smooth movement choreography and precise move control, they stood out among numerous enterprise teams and finally won the fourth place, an excellent achievement.

In the floor exercise event, the humanoid robot from the "Boyuan Zhixing Team" demonstrated high artistic expression, capturing the attention of numerous media outlets and audiences. Finally, it won the bronze medal by a narrow margin of only 0.4 points behind the second place, and this result ranks as the best among domestic universities in this competition.

After the competition, China Media Group interviewed the "Boyuan Zhixing Team". Team captain Ji Aixu stated in the interview: "The humanoid robots of the Boyuan Zhixing Team from North China University of Technology are small, dexterous, and highly stable. This competition was a comprehensive test of our technology, especially in terms of dynamic balance and movement continuity. Whether it was hardware construction, software algorithm programming, or rehearsal and simulation, team members demonstrated the tenacious fighting spirit and teamwork ability of our students in every link."

The Intelligent Transportation Laboratory of the School of Electrical and Control Engineering of NCUT attaches great importance to students' science and technology innovation practice activities. In 2025, it has won lots of outstanding achievements. Focusing on the integration and development of artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, and vehicle-road coordination technologies, the laboratory covers multiple fields such as intelligent transportation, automatic control, and artificial intelligence applications. With more than 100 student members currently, it is committed to cultivating high-level applied talents in the intelligent transportation industry who can adapt to future social development.
