On the morning of August 7, a delegation from RWTH Aachen University, including Zufeng Wu, Head of Global Partnerships and Relationships at RWTH International Academy, and Liu Yu from the China Office, visited NCUT. Chen Jiaqing, Vice President of NCUT, met with the delegation. The two sides held in-depth discussions on joint education programs, faculty and student exchanges, and research cooperation.
Chen Jiaqing welcomed the delegation and introduced NCUT’s educational strengths, discipline development, talent cultivation, scientific research, and internationalization. He noted that NCUT attaches great importance to practical cooperation with leading universities worldwide and expressed the hope that the two universities would build on their respective strengths in engineering education and technological innovation, further improve cooperation mechanisms, advance joint education programs, and create more opportunities for faculty and student exchange.
Zufeng Wu introduced RWTH Aachen University and RWTH International Academy, including their academic strengths and international cooperation programs. He noted that the two universities share strong academic links in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, control engineering, and energy and power engineering. He expressed the hope that the two sides would continue to deepen cooperation and provide students with high-quality international learning and development opportunities.
During the meeting, the two sides focused on joint bachelor’s-to-master’s pathways, including the “4+2” and “3+1+2” models, and exchanged views on program promotion, curriculum articulation, student selection, and student support. They also reached consensus on developing short-term winter and summer programs, strengthening faculty visits and academic exchanges, and jointly applying for research projects.
After the meeting, the delegation visited NCUT’s Analysis and Testing Center and High-Quality Steel Laboratory to learn about the University’s research platforms, experimental facilities, and research achievements in related fields.
Representatives from the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, School of Energy Storage Science and Engineering, School of Electrical and Control Engineering, and Office of International Affairs (International School) attended the meeting.
