On August 28, Associate Professor Vaso Manojlović from the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade, visited NCUT. Zhang Lifeng, President of NCUT, met with the guest for discussions.

Zhang Lifeng noted that the University of Belgrade is one of Serbia’s oldest higher education institutions, with a history spanning more than 200 years. Its Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy has strong teaching and research capabilities in metallurgical engineering in the Balkans, with research areas closely aligned with NCUT’s materials discipline. Zhang welcomed young scholars from the University of Belgrade to visit NCUT and expressed the hope that the two universities would use the visit as an opportunity to expand practical cooperation in joint postgraduate education, academic lectures and short-term teaching, joint applications for international research projects, and the development and sharing of research platforms.

Vaso Manojlović thanked NCUT for the warm reception and expressed strong support for the proposed areas of cooperation. He introduced the University of Belgrade and its Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, and noted that Zhang Lifeng’s academic lecture during his previous visit to the University of Belgrade had received an enthusiastic response from faculty and students. During this visit, Manojlović also gained a deeper understanding of the research directions and experimental facilities of NCUT’s High-Quality Steel Laboratory, laying a good foundation for further research cooperation and faculty and student exchanges.

During the meeting, Zhang Haijie, Chen Wei, and Wang Jujin from the High-Quality Steel Laboratory delivered presentations on numerical simulation of metallurgical processes. Vaso Manojlović gave an academic lecture titled “Theory of Metallurgical Processes.” Both sides introduced their research foundations and areas of expertise, followed by in-depth discussions on key scientific questions, core technologies, and research methods in metallurgical processes.

During his visit, Vaso Manojlović also toured the High-Quality Steel Laboratory to learn about its research platforms and experimental facilities. Representatives from the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering and the Office of International Affairs accompanied the visit.

Founded in 1808, the University of Belgrade is Serbia’s oldest university and one of the largest higher education institutions in the Balkans. The University covers engineering, natural sciences and mathematics, humanities and social sciences, and other fields. Its Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy has long focused on areas including ferrous metallurgy, non-ferrous metallurgy, metallic materials preparation, and low-carbon industrial metallurgy. It has also established long-term industry-university-research cooperation with companies including HBIS Serbia, and has strong academic and industrial influence in metallurgy and materials in the region.
