The First China-Uzbekistan University Science and Technology Innovation Conference

On September 25, the first China-Uzbekistan University Science and Technology Innovation Conference was held in North China University of Technology. North China University of Technology and seven Uzbek universities, including Tashkent State Technical University, Fergana Polytechnic Institute, Andijan Machine-building Institute, Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad AlKhwarizmi, Navoi State University of Mining and Technologies, Karshi Engineering-Economics Institute and Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute, gathered together to have in-depth exchanges and discussions on China-Uzbekistan educational cooperation and scientific and technological innovation, implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, give full play to the advantages of universities, deepen the Belt and Road Initiative with a more positive attitude, and boost the development of China- Uzbekistan comprehensive strategic partnership.

Director Jianqing Liu extended warm congratulations on the convening of the first China-Uzbekistan University Science and Technology Innovation Conference and affirmed the efforts and achievements made by North China University of Technology in promoting education and technology exchanges between China and Uzbekistan. He pointed out that this meeting is a vivid practice of Chinese and Uzbek universities to implement the Beijing Declaration on Cooperation between Chinese and Uzbek Universities. North China University of Technology has actively set up a platform for the two sides to jointly study and judge the trend and direction of scientific and technological innovation and development, and jointly study and discuss measures and methods to promote high-quality co-construction of the "Belt and Road", which is timely and conducive to accumulating new experience, setting new models and enriching new connotations for the cooperation between Chinese and Uzbek universities.

In his speech, Counsellor Yakhyaev Bobir said that the first China-Uzbekistan University Science and Technology Innovation Conference was an important milestone in the cooperation between the two countries in education and technology, marking a new stage in the partnership between China and Uzbekistan in the field of education and technology. He stressed that Uzbekistan attached great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with China in the field of education and technology, and looked forward to deepening cooperation with China in basic research, applied research, technology development, etc., to jointly promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and to inject new vitality into the economic and social development of the two countries.

Inspector Xiaoling Zhang pointed out at the conference that North China University of Technology and Uzbek universities have continuously deepened educational cooperation in various fields, achieved fruitful results in personnel training, scientific research, cultural inheritance, cooperation in running schools and other aspects, and played a positive role in building Beijing's education development pattern, broadening talent training channels, and enhancing the international influence of the capital's education. She said that the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education will make every effort to provide a good policy environment and condition guarantee for the cooperation between the two sides, and hopes that the two sides will take this conference as an opportunity to deepen the partnership and jointly train more international outstanding talents.

Lifeng Zhang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of North China University of Technology, stated in his speech that communication between Chinese and Uzbek universities in the fields of education and technological innovation is of great significance. This conference is not only an important opportunity for both sides to enhance understanding, deepen friendship, and seek technological innovation, but also a platform for promoting knowledge sharing, technological exchange, and cultural understanding between the universities of the two countries. The conference advocates the establishment of the "China-Uzbekistan University Alliance", which aims to build a more inclusive, innovative and sustainable China-Uzbekistan education community, taking personnel training, scientific and technological innovation, industry-university-research and application as action points, focusing on renewable energy, new materials, intelligent control, digital technology, dialogue among civilizations and other fields, and deepening China-Uzbekistan higher education exchanges and cooperation in the new era. The conference also held the China-Uzbekistan Belt and Road Joint Laboratory Launch Ceremony. North China University of Technology and seven engineering colleges in Uzbekistan joined hands to build a platform for upgrading scientific research cooperation, carrying out key core technology research, and promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

In the keynote presentation session, Lifeng Zhang, President of North China University of Technology, Turabdjanov Sadritdin Makhamatdinovich, Rector of Tashkent State Technical University, Salomov Uktam Rahimovich, Rector of Fergana Polytechnic Institute, Mardonov Bakhtiyor Teshayevich, Rector of Navoi State University of Mining and Technologies, Sherboev Murodbek Foziljon Ugli, Vice Rector of Andijan Machine-building Institute, Abdunazarov Jamshid Nurmukhamatovich, Vice Rector of Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute, respectively made fantastic reports entitled "China Research Progress and the Collaboration among Universities between China and Uzbekistan —— from the View of Metallurgical Engineering", "Uzbekistan and China: New Horizons in The Higher Education System", "Uzbekistan-2030: Energy sustainability strategy", "Introducing NSUMT: Exploring our academic excellence", "Improving the quality of teaching in higher education in the context of digitalization of education, development of electronic, mobile education and education in all places" and "Education and Research Collaboration between China and Uzbekistan".

At the seven sub-forums in the afternoon, Chinese and Uzbek scholars focused on "Low-Carbon, Green, and Intelligent Development of the Steel Industry", " The Digitization and Intelligentization of Higher Education", "'Development Ideas and Implementation Plans of Energy Science and Technology Cooperation in Central Asia under ‘The Belt and Road’ Framework ", "Architecture - Intelligent Design Based on Low Carbon Concept", "Resilience Construction and Safety Development of Cities: Challenges and Solutions", "Enterprise Digital Transformation and Business Management", "Mathematics and Statistics in Big Data Science: Discipline Integration and Mutual Promotion" and other themes, shared experience and achievements, summarized the progress and effectiveness of scientific and technological innovation cooperation, and discussed the trend and direction of scientific and technological innovation development as well as the important measures to promote the high-quality development of the innovative Silk Road.

This conference is a large-scale university science and technology innovation conference held in Beijing since the two important meetings of the heads of state of China and Uzbekistan in 2024. It is a positive measure for participating universities to actively integrate into the development of the "the Belt and Road". It is of great significance to promote the opening up of education, to enhance China's international influence, competitiveness and voice of China's education, and to contribute China's strength to the development of global education.
