Build a winning foundation, be 'utterly diligent, highly self-disciplined, and deeply eager to learn,' and create a bright future for yourselves."
Zhang Lifeng, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee of North China University of Technology, President, delivered a speech. He extended sincere congratulations to all graduates, thanked teachers, parents, and people from all walks of life for nurturing students, and gave the class of 2025 a special "roll call"—listing outstanding students who studied hard, achieved excellent grades, or contributed to volunteer services, and sending warm wishes to those celebrating birthdays on the ceremony day.
Zhang Lifeng said the graduates were a lucky and strong generation, striving in the call for an education-powered country. Born in an era of rapid national development, they witnessed the university's "Four New" development and the launch of the "One University, Two Campuses" initiative. Through four years of hard work, they had continuously innovated and excelled in science, technology, and academic research, writing a brilliant chapter for the class of 2025.
He shared four life insights: Have the will of steel and the ambition to advance. Overcoming and strengthening oneself is life's foundation. Break free from the "comfort zone," understand, refine, change, and surpass yourself to be the best version. Reject "lying flat" and strive tirelessly for dreams.
Maintain a flexible attitude and a humble style. Humility is a virtue that helps recognize flaws and stay eager to learn, easing anxiety. Avoid impatience—calmness breeds wisdom. Learn to reconcile with life and self, and develop the ability to heal while facing challenges.
Uphold integrity and pursue truth. Being a good person is fundamental; doing good things follows. Persist in truth and kindness. Be a moral, kind person, support college friends, practice the school spirit of "Seriousness, Strictness, and Rigor," and pursue excellence responsibly.
Cultivate patriotic feelings and passionate beliefs. Shoulder the mission of a strong nation, be a loving generation, and show love for the Party, country, and family through action. In youth's prime, contribute to the nation with striving youth. Remember to visit the alma mater, care for parents, and cherish family.
Zhang Lifeng hoped students would never forget their alma mater, strive for greater achievements, and forge ahead with youth's courage to become their ideal selves. He wished them to enter life's sea with unique splendor, that the Western Hills remain evergreen, and friendship last. Finally, he called out: "Graduates, you've graduated! Fly high!"
The ceremony ended with the school anthem sung by teachers and students.
The degree-awarding ceremony followed on the gymnasium's second floor, where university leaders, college heads, and Academic Degree Committee members tasseled graduates one by one.
With grace and ambition, set sail! May the class of 2025 write a magnificent chapter with youthful resolve and the era's sails. Happy graduation!
