On May 24, the 2026 National College Student Robotics Competition ROBOTAC Humanoid Kung Fu Robotics Contest (Xiong’an Division, International Track) was held at the Xiong’an Convention and Exhibition Center in Xiong’an New Area, Hebei Province. The international student team from NCUT, guided by Guan Xiaohan and Cai Xichang from the School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, won second place.
The team consisted of both Chinese and international students. Students from the Class of 2024 in Electronic Information Engineering collaborated closely with their Chinese teammates. Coming from diverse countries and cultural backgrounds, the team members used robotics as a common link, learning from each other and coordinating effectively throughout preparation and competition, demonstrating strong teamwork and cross-cultural collaboration skills. Since forming the team, members have devoted their spare time and weekends to systematic training, refining robot performance parameters through repeated programming, tactical planning, and live drills, building valuable experience for the competition.
ROBOTAC, organized by the National College Student Robotics Competition Committee, is China’s original national-level robotics competition. Launched in 2019, it has been included in the evaluation system for discipline competitions in Chinese universities and is one of the three core competitions within the national robotics competition framework. This year’s contest adopted a full-contact, bipedal humanoid robot format, requiring teams to independently program, assemble, and strategize their robots, emphasizing students’ innovation, engineering practice, and teamwork.
The School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science has always attached great importance to the education of international students. Following the philosophy of “learning and teaching through competition,” the school actively provides international students with platforms for academic competitions and technological innovation, encouraging Chinese and international students to form teams and participate in high-level contests, thereby enhancing their overall skills through practical experience.
