On October 14, the last leg of the 2023 "The Belt and Road Diplomats’cycling Series" was held in Laoshan, Beijing 30 international students of NCUT from 19 countries participated in the competition.
The Honor Cycling Group started from Shougang Big Air (the venue for freestyle skiing and snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics), passed through Shougang Park, Shijingshan Road (Chang An Avenue West Extension), and finally arrived at Laoshan Velodrome (the venue of the 2008 Summer Olympics track cycling competition), with a total length of 8 kilometers. The whole cycling was accompanied by a bilingual cultural tourism promotion and explanation in Chinese and English, and while the landmark buildings in Shijingshan District were in full view, NCUT international students also experienced an open and inclusive urban mindedness. During cycling, the international students actively interacted and talked with the Chinese riders , and they not only gained happiness and friendship, but also felt the sportsmanship of perseverance and tenacity.
In the subsequent 2023 "The Belt and Road” Diplomats’cycling Series" (Beijing Laoshan Station), 19 international students of NCUT participated in the embassy and consulate group road cycling race. CHANSA KAPEMBWA from Zambia, MASUKA WILLIAM ANOLD from Uganda, and MUSSA JORDAO ANGELO USSENE from Mozambique won the first, second, and third place awards in the international student group of the project.
After the competition, international students of NCUT participated in a cultural and tourism promotion, observation, and cultural exchange event organized by the Shijingshan District Culture and Tourism Bureau, along with diplomats from various countries to China. Everyone visited the iconic cultural and tourism project Fahai Temple and Fahai Temple Mural Art Museum in Shijingshan District, and then returned to the starting point of the Honorary Cycling - Shougang Park, climbed the Shougang Great Jump Platform to take a panoramic view of Beijing West and relive the glorious moments of the Winter Olympics.
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the "Belt and Road" initiative, in order to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of culture and sports, "The Belt and Road Diplomats’cycling Series" was successfully established in 2023, which was held in three stations, the first race was completed in Guigang, Guangxi on September 10, the second was held in Jintan, Jiangsu in mid-September, and Beijing Laoshan Station was the last race. This site is co-sponsored by the Cycling and Fencing Administrative Center Under the General Administration of Sports of China the China Cycling Sports Association, and the People's Government of Shijingshan District, Beijing.
