From August 23rd to 24th, the National Final of the Humanoid Robot Special Competition at the 27th China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition was held in Hefei, Anhui Province. Students from the School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science of our university won 1 national first prize in the Humanoid Robot Special Competition during this event, and also obtained 1 second prize and 1 third prize respectively in the Urban Road Recognition Competition.
As China's first full-size humanoid robot competition, this special competition attracted the active participation of more than 6,000 students from nearly 400 universities across the country. Over 200 qualifying teams from more than 100 universities, including Tsinghua University and Harbin Institute of Technology, entered the national final with more than 320 humanoid robots, competing fiercely in a showdown focused on cutting-edge humanoid robot technologies.
Students majoring in Artificial Intelligence from our university advanced to the final of the "Cross-Platform Embodied Intelligence Creative Challenge" with a full score in the preliminary round, and finally won the national first prize in the final. With the theme of "Intelligent Home of the Future", this competition item combined the TongVerse robot virtual simulation system, large-model technology and Aelos physical robots to build a virtual-real integrated intelligent task execution environment, aiming to promote the verification and iteration of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence in the home field.
In addition, students majoring in Artificial Intelligence from our university also won 1 national second prize and 1 national third prize respectively in the Urban Road Recognition Competition, which concluded earlier.
The China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition is one of the largest-scale and most influential robot competitions in China. It aims to promote the innovation and application of robot and artificial intelligence technologies, and cultivate and select outstanding talents in related fields. Since its establishment in 1999, it has attracted the participation of more than 1,000 universities across the country and over 460,000 person-times. The competition has been included in the Discipline Competition Ranking for National Regular Institutions of Higher Education and the Analysis Report on College Student Competitions in National Regular Higher Education Institutions, both released by the China Association of Higher Education.
Since the Artificial Intelligence major of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science of our university began participating in the China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition in 2022, it has accumulated 4 national first prizes, 3 national second prizes, 2 national third prizes, and 19 awards in the Beijing Division. The number of participating and award-winning students has hit new highs repeatedly, and this competition has become an effective platform for talent cultivation in the Artificial Intelligence major of our university.
