On March 25, Chen Qun, Member of the Standing Committee and Vice President of our University, led a delegation to Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences) to conduct research on internationalization initiatives and learn advanced experience from sister universities in the construction of international cooperation platforms.

Wu Yantao, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Liu Yu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences), met with the delegation.

Wu Yantao extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the general situation of Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences) in international cooperation, platform development, internal governance and other fields.

He noted that in recent years, based on its actual development conditions, Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences) has explored a distinctive development path featuring platform construction as the foundation, talent and intelligence introduction as the support, disciplinary development as the core, and student education as the goal.

He stated that North China University of Technology, as a key institution serving local economic and social development, cultivating high-level innovative talents and conducting advanced technological research and development, enjoys a profound heritage, distinctive characteristics and strong development momentum. As universities of engineering, the two sides share similar academic backgrounds, close interpersonal connections and compatible cultures, laying a solid foundation for cooperation.

He expressed the hope that the two sides will take this exchange as an opportunity to expand areas of cooperation, deepen exchanges and collaboration, and jointly write a new chapter in the high-quality development of both institutions.

Liu Yu emphasized that Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences) has achieved fruitful results in basic research, technological research and development, and joint postgraduate training in recent years.

North China University of Technology has delivered remarkable outcomes in Sino‑foreign cooperative education and the training of international students, cultivating international talents for the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

It is hoped that the two sides will actively promote exchanges and cooperation in interdisciplinary integration, resource sharing, and innovative development in the future, and jointly contribute wisdom and strength to building a strong country in education.

Chen Qun thanked Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences) for its warm reception and congratulated the university on its achievements in high-quality development in recent years. He particularly noted that our university has set a benchmark for peer institutions in the development of international cooperation platforms.

He introduced the history, disciplinary layout, talent cultivation, international cooperation and exchanges of North China University of Technology, as well as its progress in the development of “new doctoral programs, new talents, new campus and new disciplines” in recent years. He stated that the university is building a new development pattern of “one university, two campuses”. Relying on its “Four Key Areas and Four New Disciplines”, it is fully advancing the construction of a high-level engineering university with distinctive features and prominent advantages.

As both universities are engineering-oriented, they share much in common and enjoy broad potential for cooperation in disciplinary development, platform construction, university-local coordination and other fields. Chen Qun expressed his hope that this exchange will promote mutual learning, build consensus, lay a solid foundation for further deepening cooperation and joint progress, and contribute wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of both universities.

During the symposium, the two sides held in-depth discussions on the construction and project application of international cooperation platforms, including Sino-foreign cooperative education programs, “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratories, and Discipline Innovation and Intelligence Introducing Bases of Institutions of Higher Education.

Officials from relevant departments and schools of our university participated in the research, including the Office of International Affairs, Research Institute of Science and Technology, School of Electrical and Control Engineering, School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, and School of Energy Storage Science and Engineering.
